MISSION STATEMENT
“The mission of the Animal Research and Ethics Committee is to advocate for sound ethical practices in the conduct of research and to aim to increase awareness among the RSA membership of the number of ethical and regulatory challenges faced by investigators who study alcoholism and other addictive disorders. The committee maintains a special emphasis on issues related to the ethical use of animals in biomedical and behavioral research. This committee shall also serve as a liaison between RSA and the STAR (Supporting Truth about Animal Research) coalition, a large and growing consortium of scientific societies that coordinates activities to address important issues involving the use of animals in research and develops resources for education and outreach.”
