Two Faculty Positions (open rank) in the Division of Psychology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center
The Division of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior of the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), located in Jackson, Mississippi, invites applicants for two faculty positions in our dynamic Division and Department.
The first position is a full-time psychologist position on the clinician/educator track (tenure or non-tenure track) and will be filled at the academic rank commensurate with experience and achievement. Highest priority will be given to applicants with interest and experience in working with adults.
The second position is a full-time tenure-track psychologist to be filled at the academic rank commensurate with experience and achievement. Highest priority will be given to applicants at the Associate or Full Professor level. For candidates with both leadership experience and interest, the role of Director, Division of Psychology, will be included in this position, with adequate protected administrative time to fulfill the role. The Division Director is a member of the Executive Committee of the Department and directly supervises seven psychologists, one LPC, and one psychometrist.
Clinical Service – The psychologists chosen for both positions will bring an empirical mentality, passion, skill, experience with evidence-based assessment and intervention, and compassion to their work. Clinical service will include assessment, intervention, and supervision of predoctoral psychology interns in settings appropriate to training, interests, and Departmental and institutional need.
Education and Training – The Division of Psychology is nationally known for its APA-accredited psychology internship program. As a member of the internship faculty, candidates will be expected to provide clinical supervision and/or research mentoring to our seven interns and one postdoctoral fellow. In addition, the psychologists will provide education and training to psychiatry residents and other trainees.
Research – Faculty in the Division of Psychology have a long history of attracting external grant funding and are dedicated to the scientific endeavor. Candidates with active research portfolios and grant funding specializing in addiction, psychiatric disorders, or related issues, will experience a supportive and collaborative scientific environment. Mississippi’s demographics and location make UMMC an ideal site to conduct research on a wide range of cutting-edge issues, including health disparities, minority mental health, and rural mental health.
Qualifications – Applicants must have a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program and have completed an APA-accredited internship. Mississippi licensure or license-eligibility is a requirement.
