NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship in the Redmond Vascular Biology lab to study the effects of alcohol on vascular cell plasticity and atherosclerosis.
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available (Jan 2025) in the Vascular Biology research laboratory of Dr. Eileen M. Redmond at the University of Rochester Medical Center. This lab investigates the cardiovascular system as a biological target for alcohol using state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo approaches. Current projects, in the context of atherosclerosis, are focused on regulation of vascular cell plasticity. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a proactive attitude and excellent bench and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The position involves designing and conducting research experiments, analyzing, organizing and presenting data, and writing manuscripts. The Pl will work closely with the successful candidate in all of these aspects and in developing their professional skills, and the candidate will be encouraged to apply for independent fellowship grants.
Candidates should have recently earned a PhD or MD/PhD degree(s) in biological or medical science fields. Strong molecular biological skills and proficiency in cell culture (vascular cells and progenitor stem cells) is required, as is experience in cell signaling investigation. A research background in vascular pathophysiology is preferred. Experience in biochemical analyses, immunocytochemistry, high throughput transcriptomics (e.g. scRNA-seq), mouse surgery, and/or transgenic mouse studies is advantageous.
Interested applicants should provide a cover letter briefly describing their research experience, curriculum vitae with photograph, and the contact information and email addresses of three professional references to Prof. Eileen M Redmond, PhD, University of Rochester Medical Center, Box SURG, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester NY 14642. Email: Eileen_Redmond@urmc.rochester.edu.
