Website National Center for Sexual Violence Prevention, Georgia State University

The National Center for Sexual Violence Prevention (https://ncsvp.gsu.edu/) at Georgia State University (GSU) has an opening for a postdoctoral fellowship beginning August 2025 (start date flexible). The fellow will work primarily on data analyses, publications, and grant writing on federally funded projects to prevent alcohol use and interpersonal violence (including sexual and intimate partner violence) with a focus on health equity. Current federally-funded grants focus on LGBTQIA+ young adults, military personnel, college students, and young adults from the community. The fellow will have dedicated time to pursue independent research and/or clinical activities if interested in clinical licensure.

Our goal is to identify a productive scholar interested in health equity research in alcohol and violence prevention who aims to obtain preparatory training for a career as an independent scientist. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in a related field (e.g., Public Health, Clinical Psychology). Faculty mentors include Dr. Amanda Gilmore (https://www.dramandagilmore.com/asap-lab) and Dr. Cindy Stappenbeck (https://sites.gsu.edu/stappenbeck-lab/)

Setting: The NCSVP (https://ncsvp.gsu.edu/) is housed within the Mark Chaffin Centers for Healthy Development (MCCHD; https://healthy.gsu.edu/about/), a university-level research center at GSU committed to promoting the health, safety and well-being of children, adults and families through research, service, education, training and advocacy. GSU’s Alcohol Prevention Research on Violence, Equity and Novel Techniques (A-PREVENT) T32 Training program (https://ncsvp.gsu.edu/a-prevent-training/) is within the NCSVP. Fellows would have access to the training provided within the A-PREVENT T32 training program. GSU is among the most diverse colleges and universities in the U.S., and annually graduates more African American students than any other public or nonprofit higher education institution.

Apply: Please send a letter of interest, CV, and 3 representative publications to Dr. Amanda Gilmore (agilmore12@gsu.edu) and Dr. Cindy Stappenbeck (cstappenbeck@gsu.edu). Review of applications will begin November 1 and will continue until filled.
