Student Merit / Junior Investigator

A limited number of Student Merit / Junior Investigator Meeting Awards are provided each year to individuals who are the presenting author of a poster or symposium speaker at the Annual Scientific Meeting.  Awards are funded by a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) grant. The awards are intended to help defray costs associated with attendance at the Annual Meeting. Awards cover the cost of meeting registration only or meeting registration and a very minimal travel stipend.

An application must be submitted by all individuals who are seeking these funds.  A Speaker or Poster abstract (required of applicants) must be submitted by the deadline specified each year.

Selection of awardees will be based on the merit of their abstract and stated financial need submitted within the application.

Additional consideration will be given for students and junior investigators from an LMIC or under represented demographic location.

RSA will notify each applicant when the Student Merit and/or Junior Investigator application is received in our system. The email will state that the registration fee for the RSA Annual Scientific Meeting has been waived. SM/JI applicants will not receive a code. Our message will tell applicants they may log into their account and complete their meeting registration at that time. We ask that applicants finalize their registration, including reserving their place in any optional events that require an RSVP (such as the Student Lunch, Post-Doc Dinner, etc.) after they receive this messaging of application acceptance to secure their Annual Meeting attendance.

If applicants pay for their registration before they apply, we will refund them.
