RSA Ongoing Updates and Resources

Related to 2025 Executive Orders

NIH and other federal agencies have been impacted by a recently issued memo from the acting Secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services restricting agency communications through February 1. This has resulted in cancellation of some upcoming study section and Advisory Council meetings, travel, hiring, and communications, among other things.

While the longer-term implications are unclear at this time, please be assured that the RSA Advocacy Committee is in regular communication with RSA's lobbying partners in Washington, D.C. to monitor these changes. The Advocacy Committee will provide updates as any new developments emerge as well as information regarding opportunities to take action.

Many of us are balancing our professional responsibilities to our institutions, staff, and trainees and our own personal concerns during this time of uncertainty for the research community. For now, we encourage members to continue to focus your attention on the much needed scientific research related to alcohol and its impacts, and remain vigilant for updates from RSA and the many other scientific organizations and colleagues who all have a vested interest in the value and quality of biomedical research.
