The University of Florida Health colleges invite applications for faculty positions at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank specializing in the development and application of artificial intelligence-powered insights in determinants of health, healthcare decision-making, and novel diagnostics and therapeutics.
Successful applicants will join the University of Florida (UF) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Initiative aimed at advancing the university’s reputation as a national and global leader in the application of AI (https://ai.ufl.edu). The initiative is supported by a $70 million initial investment and implementation of the most powerful AI supercomputer in higher education in the world. As part of this bold vision, the university is hiring 100 new faculty members, including an initial 17 faculty members in the health sciences. UF Health is one of the largest integrated academic health centers in the country, with colleges of Medicine (Gainesville and Jacksonville), Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine, and more than 2,400 faculty.
Successful applicants will join a cross-college network of AI researchers grounded in the values of Trustworthy AI, Community, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Three broad areas of particular interest are AI expertise related to (1) Determinants of Health, (2) Healthcare Decision-Making, and (3) Diagnostics and Therapeutics. Successful applicants may have expertise in predictive analytics, risk stratification or causal inference methods to understand the determinants of health (e.g., genetic, clinical, social, and environmental factors); developing evidence and tools for decision support in clinical and other public health settings; and/or ‘omics technologies, bioinformatics, biomedical imaging, and drug discovery. Related to this, UF has designated several key application areas including neurology/neuroscience, aging, acute critical care, cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, mental health, and child and maternal health, as well as precision medicine, disease prevention, public health, and related areas. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in the health sciences, computer science, engineering, or related disciplines. In addition, applicants should demonstrate prior experience and/or commitment to working in a highly collaborative and inclusive environment.
Faculty members hired through this initiative will be appointed in departments throughout the UF Health colleges.
