Expectations:
- Committee members are expected to be active contributors to the LOV mission. They demonstrate commitment through actions in our committee meetings and at the RSA Annual Meeting.
- We hold ourselves accountable to sharing ideas, working on meaningful changes to support current and future RSA Members of all backgrounds and lived experiences, and actively listening to others to continue to grow individually and as a committee.
- Committee Members will work in partnership with other RSA Committees to carry out initiatives aligned with the LOV Committee’s goals of increasing engagement and strengthening representation throughout the society.
Committee Composition:
- The RSA Membership Committee will work with the Chair of the LOV Committee to help ensure a robust committee makeup with respect to career stage, discipline, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and age, among other characteristics.
- Student membership is encouraged, and the LOV committee shall include at least one pre- and one post-doctoral trainee. Trainee members may rotate on and off the committee in less than four years, depending on when they transition to a new career stage.
Term Lengths:
- Members are selected and appointed by the Chair for a 4-year term, with the option of one consecutive re-appointment for a second 4-year term. Members will rotate off the Committee at the end of their term, unless they submit a written request to serve another 4-year term and this request is supported by the Chair, or unless they respond positively to a request by the Chair to continue for another term.
- To preserve continuity and continued infusion of new ideas, rotations will be staggered so that no more than 25% of the Committee changes each year.
